Derek Eller Gallery is pleased to present new work by Whiting Tennis.
Whiting Tennis aims to illuminate the anthropomorphic character, sculptural power, and unusual beauty often found in the inert and haphazard objects that populate the everyday world of neighborhood architecture and landscape. Using paint, newsprint collage, and an array of printing techniques, he constructs picturesque landscapes strewn with buildings, trailers, tree stumps, and blue tarps. Reminiscent of theatrical backdrops, wallpaper, posters, and stock photography, his sympathetic pictures are simultaneously charming and humorous.
The exhibition will also include a selection on photographs, drawings, and sculpture.
This will be his second solo show in New York.
