North Room: Marguerite Kahrl
Drawings
October 12 - November 13, 2004
Opening Reception: Friday, October 15, 6 - 8 pm
Marguerite Kahrl continues her investigation of detailed large-scale diagrammatic drawings, which address new technologies in fictitious landscapes. Formal elements intersect with concepts to create a shift in perspective focusing on issues such as surveillance, nuclear fuel, weapons production, and information transmission. Her drawings have a slow evolution and form in layers. They allow a space for reflection as one considers the detailed progression of a self-made world unfolding.
Kahrl’s work was exhibited earlier this year in a series of four one-person drawing exhibitions entitled, D-segni at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino, Italy. Her sculpture, prints, drawings and video can be seen at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Maine College of Art opening on October 30th in Portland Maine. She lives and works in Ivrea, Italy.
