Fictions
Organized by Adam Marnie
January 9-February 7, 2015
Opening reception: January 9, 2015 6-8pm
Derek Eller gallery is pleased to present Fictions organized by Adam Marnie.
The first fiction of this show is its title. These artists pull directly from the world around them,
each in relentless investigation. Utilitarian and didactic exercises are given priority over the
inward gaze. Exacting contours divide the diverse works from each other, which operate as tips
of icebergs moving through a spectrum of languages, as an array of portals into kaleidoscopic
excess. Themes as divergent as memory, confession, forensics, advertising, sexuality and
authorship are butted up against one another, offering complex paradigms of truth and falsehood
with a photographic hinge.
