North Room:
Dan Fischer
Drawings
September 5 - October 5, 2002
Opening Reception: Thursday, October 5, 6 - 8 pm
Dan Fischer discovered the world of contemporary art not in museums or galleries, but through magazine and textbook reproductions. In homage to his art stars, he renders fantastically detailed graphite drawings of well known works of contemporary art and images of artists in their studios. His dazzling handmade copies of works by artists such as Jeff Koons, Bruce Nauman, Charles Ray, and Gerhard Richter transcend mere appropriation, each having their own unique and wondrous aura.
This will be his first show in New York.
