Dan Fischer
More Love Hours Than Can Ever Be Repaid
November 18 - December 20, 2003
Opening Reception: Thursday, November 20, 6 - 8 pm
Dan Fischer discovered the world of contemporary art not in museums or galleries, but through magazine and textbook reproductions. In homage to his art stars, he renders fantastically detailed graphite drawings of well known works of contemporary art and images of artists in their studios. His dazzling handmade copies of works by artists such as Robert Gober, Cindy Sherman, Shirin Neshat, and Lynda Benglis transcend mere appropriation, each having their own unique and wondrous aura.
Dan Fischer’s work was recently seen in Living With Duchamp at The Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College and is currently included in "Process and Possibility: Contemporary Drawings at the MFAH", at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. This will be his second solo exhibition.
