North Room:
Alyson Shotz
February 23 - March 29, 2008
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 23, 6-8 pm
Two new digital photographs from Alyson Shotz's series A Momentary Configuration of Matter will be on view in the gallery's north room. The prints are constructed in the computer from photographs of her sculptures collaged with carefully selected images from nature and three-dimensional structures created in a computerized architectural design program. These images combine to create new complex forms that could exist on the head of a pin or out in space, functioning as snapshots at moments of creation.
The work of Alyson Shotz can currently be seen at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC and will be on view in an upcoming exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in July 2008. She was recently included in the Guggenheim Museum' s 2007 exhibition, The Shapes of Space, and has had recent solo shows at the Yale University Art Gallery and the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.
