On the occasion of Karl Wirsum’s fourth exhibition with the gallery, a new illustrated catalog with an essay by Dan Nadel will be published. Karl Wirsum, Mr. Whatzit: Selections from the 1980s is an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Karl Wirsum from an important period of his storied career. In this period, Wirsum rededicated himself to acrylic on canvas and completed his largest paintings to date, moving away from popular culture references and instead focussing on uniquely alien figures.
